Propolis Trap (Propolis Mat)

A heavy-duty, flexible plastic mat designed to encourage bees to fill the gaps with pure propolis. Simply place it on top of the uppermost hive body in place of your inner cover. Once the gaps are filled, the mat can be removed and frozen, making the propolis brittle and easy to harvest by simply flexing the mat.

Pro-Tip for Northern Ontario: For the highest yields in Northern Ontario, prop up your outer cover slightly to create a small amount of light and airflow; this encourages the bees to work faster to seal the "draft" with propolis. This is a great way to add value to your apiary during the late Northern Ontario summer when the main honey flow begins to taper off.
